Stepping Towards Stability:How Exercise and NDIS Personal Training Can Safeguard Against Falls for Individuals with Disabilities

Maintaining balance and preventing falls are crucial aspects of overall well-being, particularly for individuals living with disabilities. Falls can result in serious injuries and impact one’s independence and quality of life. Fortunately, exercise, along with guidance from NDIS accredited personal trainers, can play a significant role in improving balance and reducing the risk of falls among individuals with disabilities.

The Importance of Balance for Individuals with Disabilities:

For individuals with disabilities, maintaining balance is often more challenging due to factors such as muscle weakness, limited mobility, and impaired sensory perception. These factors increase the risk of falls, which can lead to injuries and further complications. Therefore, addressing balance issues is essential to enhance mobility, independence, and overall safety.

Exercise and Balance Improvement:

Regular exercise, particularly targeted balance and strength training, can significantly improve balance and stability. Exercises that focus on strengthening the core, lower body muscles, and proprioception (awareness of body position) are particularly beneficial for individuals with disabilities. Furthermore, incorporating exercises that challenge balance, such as standing on one leg or using balance boards, can help improve stability and reduce the risk of falls.

The Role of NDIS Accredited Personal Trainers:

NDIS accredited personal trainers play a crucial role in guiding individuals with disabilities through safe and effective exercise programs tailored to their specific needs and goals. These trainers have the expertise to design personalised workout routines that address balance deficits, strengthen muscles, and improve overall mobility. Moreover, they provide valuable support, motivation, and encouragement, empowering clients to stay consistent with their exercise regimen.

Research Supporting Exercise for Balance Improvement:

Numerous studies have demonstrated the effectiveness of exercise in improving balance and reducing falls among individuals with disabilities. For example, a study published in the Journal of Physical Therapy Science found that a structured exercise program led by a qualified trainer significantly improved balance and reduced the risk of falls in individuals with cerebral palsy (CP)- Read the full paper here.

In conclusion, exercise, coupled with guidance from NDIS accredited personal trainers, offers a powerful solution for enhancing balance and preventing falls among individuals living with disabilities. By incorporating targeted exercise routines into their daily lives, individuals can improve their overall stability, mobility, and quality of life. Investing in regular exercise and working with qualified trainers can make a significant difference in promoting safety and independence for individuals with disabilities.

Such a professional and welcoming team! I trained with them in my 40s and so happy to be back in my 50s! Nick is such a great support, always approachable and understanding. Alenka listens to your needs and provides the exercises needed to achieve your personal goals. If it wasn't for Nick still being there I may have gone elsewhere! He has the best staff and they follow his training philosophy that each person is individual in their goals and needs.

Great vibe. Trainers are easy to talk to and suit your workout to your abilities and goals. When Iโ€™m not with a trainer, I appreciate just riding an indoor bike or using the treadmill in a peaceful environment with no crazy loud music. I love this place ☺️💪

My first thought was what have I signed myself up to but when I started losing my first kilos I was very happy. Deb was a great help, always supporting me along the way and my daughter also helped me a lot by preparing my lunches and stopping me from snacking 😁. The challenge changed my lifestyle and helped me to feel better in myself. So grateful for all of that.

Trainers are all lovely, friendly and open to questions. Energise appealed to me because it was a safe space for me to go to the gym and lift weights as a beginner in a friendly environment- and that's exactly what I got! I love the community aspect and recommend to anyone looking for a convenient, good value gym to get started on your fitness journey.

I joined Energize express about 3 years ago and it was the best move Iโ€™ve ever made. I was feeling very sluggish & not happy with my weight. The gym has this lovely comfortable vibe, and everyone is part of the gym community you can chat to people if you want or just get on with the job. The trainers are so dedicated in helping you achieve your goals. Each year they have an 8 week challenge & boy does it work as my first year in I won . I lost weight but gained muscle mass I have never looked back I feel fit, fabulous & thru the guidance of my trainer Deb eat a much more balanced diet.
